Happy New Year!
Ringing in the start of a new year as The Streets Initiative’s Featured Edmontonian for January and February is west Edmonton resident Elisa Warwick-Markowski! Fun fact: Elisa was my high school grad date back in ’96 and she sums up my luck with the ladies back then…I ask her to grad, and she ends up marrying my cousin! She picked well though, my cousin is actually a pretty good guy. Elisa is a 45 year old mother of two kids and works hard as a pharmaceutical rep. It’s been nice still being in touch since on a few occasions Elisa has been a valuable team member when we relayed The Canadian Death Race and Sinister 7 in the past. Notably, when she was running a stage out in Blairemore during a raging storm, a lightning bolt struck mere meters away. I remember we were actually on the way to meet her at the transition point when I saw the lightning bolt strike in the trees and I thought to myself, “wow, I wonder if Elisa saw that?”. Turned out that she got a really good view of it haha.
Elisa is a wife and a mother of two great kids and has previously fought a successful battle with cancer. She has also had others close to her affected by this terrible disease which has played a big part in her desire to direct funds for the next two months to assist hereditary cancer research. Based out of the Lois Hole hospital for women, The Allard Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Clinic is her choice and you can read more about it here: https://thestreetsinitiative.org/2024/01/01/elisas-choice-for-donation-recipient-is-the-allard-hereditary-breast-and-ovarian-cancer-clinic/
Thanks so much for your generosity, all, every dollar raised is important and helps the ongoing fight!
