The Featured Edmontonian for March and April 2025 is LAURIE GRAMS

Happy New Year Edmonton! Here to kick off 2025 for The Streets Initiative and get the ball rolling on money getting raised for some great charities in Edmonton is Laurie Grams! I met up with Laurie at Jackie Parker Park in Mill Woods and had a conversation with her while her dog ran around in the field (her dog is the fluffiest Bernese I’ve ever seen). Originally from the community of Peace River, the mother of one came to Edmonton almost 25 years ago in search of different work opportunities. Now working as a project manager for a company involved in industrial construction projects, Laurie emphasizes the importance of adaptability and growth after her experiences over the years in Alberta’s Oil & Gas Industry after previously working in power engineering, drafting, and management.

Despite the usual challenges and transitions in life, Laurie is a positive person and emphasizes the personal growth and resilience that comes with change. It certainly helped after Laurie’s mother was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2015 and successfully battled the disease after undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy. She has been cancer free ever since! It’s for this reason that Laurie has chosen the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Edmonton as the recipient of the next two months worth of donations. For more info check out the homepage and read a bit more about what they are all about. Let’s do what we can to help out this worthy cause and allow them to keep on the fight against blood cancer research and treatment!
