A strong family leads to strong people. Based in Fort Saskatchewan, Families First Society is an organization dedicated to strengthening families through a variety of programs and community initiatives. As someone who has lived in Fort Saskatchewan for over 10 years, my family has taken advantage of a couple of the childhood programs they offer, but when I visited their website at http://www.familiesfirstsociety.ca I was surprised at the number of programs and services that I didn’t know they had. Family support programs for expectant mothers and also resources to assist with family violence, or free of charge registered programs like the parent-child Mother-Goose and a food coop offering discounted prices on groceries to just name a few. They even have a cooking program for adults that teaches how to plan, budget, and cook 3 healthy meals for their family.
In addition to monetary donations, Families First Society is also in need of drop off donations like diapers, wipes, and formula that they give to expectant mothers. For more information on this great organization, please visit their site at http://www.familiesfirstsociety.ca
