Patrick has chosen to direct all donations and my $1.00 per km pledge for the months of May and June 2024 to The Edmonton Kinettes to support the services they provide and fundraising efforts they get involved with. Patrick has a great commercial for them that I don’t have at my finger tips yet but which you can check out on the site here soon. To give you a little bit of background, The Kinettes are a part of a little organization you may have heard of called The Kinsmen Club. This fine upstanding group of men and women are scattered throughout chapters all across Canada and are responsible for all kinds of fundraising efforts specific to their areas and all making that particular community a better place. They were formed in 1920 by Harold Allin Rogers in Hamilton, Ontario and rapidly expanded and merged with other clubs, eventually getting up to the 8000 members they have today. Specifically, the Kinettes became official in 1939 when Miriam Sheridan coined the name for the original Kinette Club in Ottawa. These terrific ladies support many initiatives and charities in our city and, while monetary donations are a great way to support them, there are many other ways to get involved as well, not the least of which would be to become a member! After looking into it a bit for my website, they all seem like a great group to rub elbows with to help make a difference and develop strong friendships.
