Barbs choice for all November and December 2025 donations is the PAWS UP PROGRAM (PUP)

Barb has chosen The Paws Up Program (PUP) for all donations in November and December 2025 to go to. As I read the info on their website at http://www.pawsupprogram.com , I found that PUP is a unique Alberta-based non-profit organization devoted to improving animal welfare in Indigenous communities while honoring cultural traditions and community relationships. Operating from the Edmonton area, PUP’s mission goes beyond animal rescue — it’s about quality care, education, and respect.

Through meaningful partnerships with Indigenous leaders, PUP provides veterinary care, spay-and-neuter services, pet supplies, and animal welfare education tailored to the unique needs of each community. The organization focuses on both owned pets and free-roaming animals, attempting to bridge the gap to where access to veterinary care is limited or unavailable.

What sets PUP apart is its emphasis on collaboration and cultural understanding. Rather than imposing solutions, the team works hand-in-hand with communities to build trust and sustainable care programs. This approach not only enhances the health and safety of animals but also strengthens community well-being.

With growing support from volunteers, donors, and partners, the Paws Up Program continues to expand its reach across Alberta. Each project represents a small but powerful step toward reconciliation — showing how compassion for animals can inspire deeper connections between people and communities.
